Our Work

Legion of Mary meetings include prayer, study, and spiritual works of mercy. Each week, we plan ways to reach out to our parish and community, under the direction of a priest or deacon. Each praesidia has unique ways of fulfilling the Legion apostolate, to Jesus through Mary.

A pair of Legionaries might conduct a weekly Rosary at a retirement home or accompany the pastor as he brings Holy Communion to patients. Legionaries visit nursing homes, hospitals, and homebound patients all over Middle Tennessee, sharing prayer or sometimes just a listening ear.

When someone has died, the Legion of Mary will be there to pray the Rosary at the wake and follow up with the family afterward.

Legionaries arrange for Sacred Heart Enthronements in homes or share a traveling Fatima statue among parish families. We teach the catechism where needed and encourage others to dig deeper into their faith. Under Our Lady's mantle, Legionaries stand vigil outside abortion facilities, offering a silent witness for "the most dejected" among us.

We distribute Rosaries, brown scapulars, Miraculous Medals and Catholic literature at parish festivals, on the steps of St. Mary's church downtown, and wherever we go.
